I made it safe and sound to Cairo yesterday! I’ll be studying here for 6 months or so inshaAllah/God-willing. I’m studying for a semester at the AMIDEAST facility in Cairo until December, and then plan to do some private study until Spring Quarter God-willing 
Here’s the exact program with AMIDEAST if you’re interested, and I’m sure you should be able to secure funding from your university. Ask me after a few weeks/months what I think about AMIDEAST and I should have a better answer by then. (One of) The only reason I would recommend AMIDEAST is if you can’t graduate in 4 years if you were to just leave school for 6 months (or more) and study Arabic at a private institution (Sibawayh and Fajr Center) in Cairo.
