Ramadan Du’a-A-Day Series, Day 17 (Monday)

Du’a/Supplication for Monday:

“Oh Allah, instruct me in the evidence of faith at the time of death.” (Abu Hurayrah. Kanz al-’Ummal #3286)

Commentary:

This is another important du’a for breathing our last in a state of iman/belief. It is the overriding concern of a believer that he or she should die in  a state of belief, for otherwise a lifetime of good deeds may come to nothing. Therefore protecting our faith is a lifelong struggle. The hadith that teaches this du’a sheds further light on the important of this matter. “None of you should say, ‘Oh Allah, instruct me in my evidence at the time of death’, as the non-believer is alos instructed in his evidence. Rather you should say, “Oh Allah! Instruct me in the evidence of faith at the time of death.’”

Ramadan Du’a-A-Day Series, Day 16 (Sunday)

Du’a/Supplication for Sunday:

“Oh Allah, protect me from the evil of myself and give me the determination to do what is most right in my affairs.” (Imran ibn Husayn. Musnad Ahmad #19141)

Commentary:

There are two major sources of corruption that lead one astray. One is external and the other is internal. The external is the Shaytan and his followers among the jinn and the humans. The internal is our own ego and our lusts and desires. We should seek Allah(swt)’s protection against both. This du’a is for the latter.

Ramadan 2009

“In Muslim nations and regions around the globe, this is the first week of the holy month of Ramadan, a time for followers to abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual activity during the day, breaking their fast each sunset, with traditional meals and sweets. During this time, Muslims are also encouraged to read the entire Quran, to give freely to those in need, and strengthen their ties to God through prayer. The goal of the fast is to teach humility, patience and sacrifice, and to ask forgiveness, practice self-restraint, and pray for guidance in the future. This year, Ramadan will continue until Saturday, September 19th. (39 photos total)”
